The Nervous System Awareness Page

Welcome to The Nervous System Awareness Page

Learn to move out of chronic stress and into rest and repair, so your body can heal and your emotional capacity can grow.

The short version

Trauma and chronic stress dysregulate your nervous system by keeping it in fight or flight mode. This dysregulation causes mental and emotional health problems, but also digestive health problems, chronic pain and chronic illness, and health problems related to hormonal imbalance.

You can fix this by regulating your nervous system through consistent practice, training it to leave stress mode and enter rest and repair mode. The more time the body spends in rest and repair mode, the more it is able to activate its own innate healing power and return to healthy balance, increasing your emotional and physical capacity.

Nervous system regulation exercises are somatic exercises designed to help the body experience feelings of safety and connection, allowing the nervous system to feel calm and safe so that it can activate rest and repair mode.
